Job Description
We are looking for a Group Technical Director for a Luxurious Wellness Resort in Phuket, Thailand. We are opened for the Thai and Expats for this position.
Responsible to manage all aspects of maintenance staff on a daily basis. Directs, coordinates and performs routine, preventive and emergency interior / exterior maintenance and repairs to obtain optimum efficiency and economy of hotel operations.
Directs the Engineering staff, accounting/budgeting, asset protection, inventory control and human resources.
Operational management responsibilities:
- Familiar and complies with the hotels mission and standards in performing maintenance and landscape activities.
- Liaises with other department to ensure the effective operation of all Engineering and Landscape Section.
- Ensure that all engineering and Landscape staff perform duties in accordance with hotel policy.
- Inspects all engineering and landscape operation area.
- Maximize maintenance team potential with a balanced focus on operations, guests, employee and owners satisfaction.
- Represents the engineering department during the daily HOD morning meetings.
- Prioritize, plan, schedule assign and supervise the engineering department staff.
- Oversee the maintenance and landscape tasks, work orders and special projects ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Respond to guest’s maintenance needs promptly and ensure guests receive professional, efficient prompt and courteous service to hotel standards.
- Maintain the physical appearance and operational efficiency of the hotel including physical. mechanical, electrical, plumbing etc.
- Installation & maintenance of all equipment related to Heating, Ventilation, and Air-conditioning, Water treatment, Fire Safety etc.
- Ensure proper records are kept relating to all plant and equipment for the hotel including repair and service records.
- Prepare reports as required by Executive Assistant Manager and General Manager.
- Ensure that stores have adequate stocks of materials, equipment and tools and are kept in a clean and safe environment.
- Take responsibility for the cleanliness and safety aspects of all plant and mechanical equipment rooms.
- Attend all meetings as required, passing on necessary information to the maintenance team in regular junior staff meetings.
- Ensure the proper use and periodic maintenance of all equipment.
- Perform daily and weekly property document inspections.
- Ensure property, grounds, physical plant and work areas are maintained to standard and that all safety equipment and conditions are to code.
- Establish and maintain department equipment and supply inventory levels appropriate to property requirements
- Provide training to staff on supplies, inventory, maintenance and ordering procedures.
- Train engineering department staff on correct maintenance procedures and assists in repairs as needed.
- Maintain, monitor and test hotel’s emergency and security systems, features like Fire Alarm, CCTV etc.
- Discuss with GM / Owner / Department heads on maintenance status and inspection reports.
- Respond to management inquires.
- Develop, implement, and direct all emergency programs.
- Develop, implement and manage energy conservation programs for the property to minimize expenses.
- Coordinate with the equipment suppliers for annual maintenance and any outstanding issues.
- Ensure maintenance staff is wearing proper uniforms and upholds hotels grooming and hygiene standards.
- Advise the Executive Committee of loss control procedures for the various departments throughout the hotel.
- Keep all records and reports concerning safety & security matters and hotel business confidential.
- In conjunction with the Chief Engineer and with assistance from Human Resources, run the Workplace Health & Safety committee meetings.
- Report and manage incidents, accidents, loss and/or damage to person and property within the premises.
- Responsible for quality service, meeting/exceeding financial goals, short and long term planning and day-to-day operations.
- Human resource responsibility:
- Promote, maintain and model courteous and professional relationship amongst all staffs in the POMEC.
- Will continually develop and challenge to maximize the potential of POME employee.
- Ensure that staff uses safe work practices, which assist with controlling breakages of engineer equipment.
- Ensure that all staff follows the policies and procedures as outlined in staff handbook.
- Hire new responsible, qualified staff for the spa.
- Work directly with the Human Resource Department to find effective ways to manage and maintain staff to the highest standard.
- Coordinate with training manager for English language classes for staff.
- Monitor, discipline and terminate staff when required.
- Ensure that staff is shown how to perform their duties economically and efficiently.
- Responsible for ensuring that staff are developed and managed effectively, counseling and providing assistance where required.
- Develop and conduct training programs.
- Evaluate employee performance and recommend promotions or demotions of assigned personal.
- Coordinate and oversee all staff related issues.
- Organize regular staff meetings to sharing and update general information to all staff and listen to concerns.
- Financial Management Responsibility:
- Prepare the annual Engineering budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with customer and legal requirements. Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects
- Input and hold responsibility for engineering budgets
- Others Responsibilities:
- Relationship Management
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with other department and contractor to ensure optimal performance
- Work with the related department head to decide which engineering projects are the highest priority against the business targets and which can be executed with the available resource
- Work collaboratively, negotiate and engage with key related department to facilitate delivery and compliance with the engineering strategy
- Communicate with related department the impact of market and technology change and potential effects on engineering. Recommend solutions without compromising quality or service while optimizing cost
- Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on engineering activities
- Leverage appropriate external contract resource as required to support projects and programs and ensure that all required compliance projects are completed in line with regulatory expectations and that the top priority business projects are executed
- Environmental
- Review environmental strategies that impact on future ways of operating and ensure implementation where possible
- Review the use of technological systems that support a more environmentally friendly approach
- Ensure environmental audits for engineering activities are carried out
- Review opportunities to be as environmentally friendly as possible
Qualification Required
