  1. Clarify your decision

First of all, make sure you have a clear idea of exactly which career path do you really want to go. Are you choosing where to apply, between two specific offers, which medium-term options to focus on, or something else?

  1. Prioritise the most important key factors that can significantly impact on your career goals

Once you are clear about the next decision you need to make, prioritise your most Important key elements what matters to you. Those factors may include;

  • Impact potential – you need to be realistic about what is likely to come down the line.
  • Personal fit – What kind of expectation you might have for next career move and how larger a contribution you can make on this career move.
  • Personal Satisfaction – How would this path satisfy other important personal priorities that aren’t already covered?
  • Career capital- Does this option significantly accelerate you in a long-term path, or otherwise open up better long-term options?
  • Option value – if you pursue this option, how good are your back-up plans?

  1. Consider all your options

Career decisions don’t always have to be make in take-it or leave-it situations. Sometimes, you need a little time to look at the broader picture and find alternative solutions.

  1. Go and Investigate

Check out the relevant career reviews, or talking to people in that filed and looking at what successful people have done in the past.

  1. Check your gut intuition and take action

After you have finished your assessments, take a break and re-rank your options. Once you have made a ranking, notice if your gut intuition feels uneasy about something. You can’t simply go with your gut to make good career decisions, but you shouldn’t ignore your gut either. Once your plan is set, it’s time to focus on execution.

Making a decision on next career move is always hard and uncertain. You will never know the outcome of your choice until you take the leap. But if you have done your research, talk to the people who matter the most and know in your gut that your decision is right and then there is nothing left to do but make that choice and stick with it.
